Superintendent Doctor Carol Hansen delivers a message about the Facilities Master Plan

Transcript of Superintendent’s Video Message

For more than 140 years, the Ocean View School District has been providing students in Huntington Beach, and portions of Fountain Valley, Westminster, and Midway City, with an excellent education. We’re proud to have multiple National Blue Ribbon and Distinguished schools. Good schools improve the quality of life in our community and protect the value of our homes. Families often share with me that multiple generations of students have attended our schools. Such rich tradition lies within our classrooms.

To continue to be the pride of our community, and provide a first-class education for our students and future students, the Ocean View School District must have 21st Century learning environments. This means safe and efficient facilities and buildings where students can learn.

We recently completed a Facilities Master Planning process, which involved community, staff, and parent input, that identified great facility needs. We need to repair and replace old roofs, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, and electrical systems. We must provide the equipment and infrastructure to support high-quality instruction in science, reading, music, arts, and math. We need to improve student safety with security fencing, cameras, and emergency communication systems. And we’d like to refresh children’s playground equipment and playing fields, and improve access to school facilities for students with disabilities.

I urge you to explore our school plans. See the possibilities that exist for the future of the students in the Ocean View School District!
