Introduction

This privacy policy (“Policy”) discloses the privacy practices for the OVSD Facilities Master Plan website at www.ovsd-fmp.org (“Site”). This Policy applies solely to information collected by this Site, and does not apply to any information collected offline or via channels other than this Site. By using this Site, you hereby consent to the collection and use of personally identifiable information and other data in accordance with this Policy.

In compliance with California Consumer Privacy Act, this Policy will notify you of the following:

  • What personally identifiable information (“your data”) is collected from you through the Site, how it is used, and with whom it may be shared.
  • What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
  • The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your data.
  • How you can correct any inaccuracies in your data.
  • How the Site responds to Web browser “do not track” signals and other privacy mechanisms.
  • How we notify Site visitors of material changes to this Policy.

As used herein, “we”, “us”, “our”, and similar first-person plural pronouns refer to the Facilities Master Plan team in general, and the Ocean View School District of Orange County (“OVSD”) in particular.

Collection, Use and Sharing of Information

While using our Site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information (“your data”) that can be used to contact or identify you. Your data may include, but is not limited to your name and email address.

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this Site. We only have access to and collect your data that you voluntarily give us via email, contact form, or other direct contact from you.

We may use your data to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We may also use your data to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials, and other information. We may also use your data for providing and improving the Site and its related content.

Electronic Mailing Lists

In order to receive Site-related email communications, a user must first register using the “Stay Informed” form on the home page. During registration, you are required to provide your email address. This information is used to send Site-related email communications in which you have expressed interest. You may unsubscribe from these Site-related email communications at any time by using the Contact Form or following the instructions contained in each mailing list communication.

Contact and Comment Forms

We request information from you on our Contact and Comment Forms. To use these forms, you must provide the minimum contact information of your name and email address. (You may choose to provide your mailing address as well, but this is optional.) This information is used for recording your message and responding, if a response is desired or otherwise warranted. If we have trouble understanding your message, we may use this information to contact you.

Surveys & Questionnaires

From time-to-time our Site may request information via surveys or questionnaires. Participation in these surveys and/or questionnaires is completely voluntary. You may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose any information requested. Information requested may include contact information (such as name or mailing address), and demographic information (such as ZIP code or age level). Survey and questionnaire information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this Site and its content.

Log Files

Like many other websites, we collect information that your Web browser sends whenever you visit our Site (“log files”). Log files record visitors’ use of the site—usually a standard procedure for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’s analytics. The information inside the log files includes each visitor’s Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, Web browser type and version, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamps related to your visit, the time you spent on each page, referring and exit pages, and similar data. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track visitors’ movements around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information in log files that is personally identifiable. (However, IP addresses are recorded as part of the information sent to us when a visitor voluntarily submits a Contact Form or Comment Form, or joins the Mailing List, in order to mitigate abuse and exploitation vectors.)

By default, we only keep log files for three (3) days, at which point they are automatically deleted. Specific log files may be retained for a longer period if necessary for troubleshooting the Site, addressing abusive or disruptive actions against the Site, or in response to a lawful order from an authority having jurisdiction.

Sharing

We share aggregated demographic information within the Facilities Master Plan team. This information is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

We will not share your data with any third party outside of the Facilities Master Plan team, other than as necessary to fulfill your request (for example, to reply to a request for additional information) or to comply with a lawful order from an authority having jurisdiction. We will not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Cookies, Web Beacons, and Third-Party Advertising

A “cookie” is a piece of data stored on a Site visitor’s computer or device. This Site does not use cookies.

A “Web beacon” is an image, script, or similar element on a Web page that allows third parties (usually advertisers) to track Site visitors within and beyond this Site. This site does not use Web beacons, and there is no third-party advertising on this Site.

Do Not Track Signal

The Site does not currently respond to a Do Not Track (“DNT”) or similar signal. The policy and legal community is still determining the meaning of DNT and the proper way for websites to respond.

Children’s Information

We believe it is important to provide added protection for children online. We encourage parents and guardians to spend time online with their children to observe, participate in and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

This Site does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children less than 13 years of age. If a parent or guardian believes that this Site has in its database the personally identifiable information of a child less than 13 years of age, please contact us immediately and we will use our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

This Site may collect personally identifiable information from children at least 13 years of age and less than 16 years of age through affirmative consent by voluntary use of contact forms and comment forms, or by voluntary response to surveys and questionnaires. As explained above, this data will not be sold to anyone or shared with anyone outside of the the Facilities Master Plan team. If a parent or guardian believes that this Site has in its database the personally identifiable information of a child at least 13 years of age and less than 16 years of age, and objects to such information being recorded, please contact us immediately and we will use our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
